Port Sutton is a section of the greater Port of Tampa and part of the area overseen by the Tampa Port Authority. Ship access to Port Sutton is achieved by the Port Sutton Terminal Channel, with maximum depth of 34 feet, the Port Sutton Entrance Channel, with a depth of 39 feet, and the Port Sutton Turning Basin, which has a depth of 49 feet.
Port Sutton lies between the Rockport and Pendola Point sections of the Port of Tampa, and though part of the city's port, it lies outside the actual city limits. It is located instead in unincorporated Hillsborough County, in the community of Palm River-Clair Mel. It is home to the Steel Port of Tampa and Marathon Ashland Petroleum, among other port tenants. Also located here are facilities of Tampa Electric Company.
