The Memorial Cross at one edge of Tennis Court of D.C. The battle line between the British-Indian forces and the Japanese forces was the tennis court. Hence the boundaries of the old tennis court is marked by concrete lines.
Below the central memorial is a stone bench over which a plaque reads thus: "Here around the Tennis court of the Deputy Commissioner lie men who fought in the battle of Kohima in which they and their comrades finally halted the invasion of India by the forces of Japan in April 1944".
