Opened in late October 2010, the name of soldier Louis Carter - who died on the front line in Afghanistan (August 2009) - is commemorated on a large decorative sign and an engraved stone plinth at the entrance to the activity area purpose built for the park

The playground project was initiated by Nuneaton's borough council at a cost of £275,000. It incorporates a timber pyramid climbing tower, a tunnel slide, a rope bridge, swings and a water feature and stands in 830 tonnes of soft beach-like sand.
