It’s been over a year for me from being inactive from Wikimapia and I’m letting you all know that I have been well and in good health.
Well it here goes, it has been a great pleasure in knowing and talking to you whenever it was on Facebook or Wikimapia, but it’s time for me to move on from Wikimapia and concentrate on my personal life and on other things. I guess you could say my departure actually started from December 2013 last year. My latest avatar on Wikimapia, Flickr and Facebook has symbolised my status. Wikimapia was just a hobby and it is nothing to be taken seriously. As at the starting of Wikimapia for me, I indeed took it seriously and realised to take it very lightly over the time I’ve had with Wikimapia.
For those who were curious as to what I was up to, well nothing much really I have been working and I feel happier and kind of more relaxed in a way.
How I have seen things is, I saw myself as a cog in a busy machine (Wikimapia) and I was helping the machine to run smoothly. But as time goes past that cog does not perform well as it use to (through wear and tear), and when it’s faulty it more or less gets replaced. I’m sure that is the same thing with me. I have realised that my time is up and I believe that I have made the right decision in quitting this hobby.
For those who don’t know me, well when I first started on Wikimapia I started out like a newbie and I didn’t know ‘what was what?’ like any other newbie’s :P) after that phase quickly went past. I became experienced and took pride in looking after the Midlands-UK map. Including the other areas of the map and helping new users out to the best of my ability, as well as to participating in the forum. I would like to say I had the pleasure in engaging in discussions with you (on the forum) and messaging you through the personal message system.
As for those who knew me better, I won’t forget the good memories over the years we had together, through the personnel message system like cracking a laugh here and there on the forum, or just helping each other out on the map etc.
However please forgive me if I have ever made you uncomfortable in the forum like disagreeing with each other, through the messaging system or on the map. As it has never been my intention to be uncomfortable or intimidating with anyone on Wikimapia.
I once again to ask you to forgive me for not replying to your messages on Wikimapia promptly after you receive this farewell message, as I will not be active on Facebook either. In general my time has been greatly reduced on the internet, and it will be very rare that I could even reply to emails.
I would like to say thank you to my friends and colleagues who have helped me out over the years on Wikimapia and I would like to especially say thank you to Alexandre Koriakine and Evgeniy Saveliev for making Wikimapia possible in the first place.
I wish my friends, colleagues, and Wikimapia’s administration team all the best. As I know Wikimapia’s ultimate goal is to describe the whole world and I hope they continue to achieve this. I would like to send out my best wishes for the website to prosper and to expand further on as well as wishing the best to all of its users alike.
I leave you to say, I wish you all to continue to enjoy Wikimapia as you are still doing and I hope you all make it a better website.
