Second World War 1939-1945, war memorial
The monument which overhangs the camp of Struhof is the Memorial raised following a national subscription thrown in 1955. The architect Bertrand Monnet conceived a watertight monument of 41 m of top dressed in a stone facing white with Hauteville in Ain. On the curve of this monument symbolizing by his shape the Eternal Flame of the deportation which does not have to go out, the sculptor Lucien Fenaux engraved the scrawny image of a transported convict.
This memorial was inaugurated on July 23rd, 1960 by the General de Gaulle.
