In one of the oldest parts of the town of Sliven, called Kaftandzhiyska, unknown masters from the town of Tryavna built a symmetrical house in the first quarter of 19th C. The house was commissioned by Dyado (Grandfather) Boyo, a merchant of frieze (homespun woollen cloth). It is one of the most valuable examples of architecture from the Revival period. Dyado Boyo's house was built in 1813. It is situated in the back of a spacious yard, covered with cobblestones in various symmetrical figures. A wooden staircase leads up to an open hall where rooms are situated, connected with one another with latches.
The rooms are furnished with great sense of beauty and romance. They are decorated with beautiful carpets with elongated decorations and rags in motley-coloured figures.
They are about 100 years old. There are shiny copper dishes and gaily-coloured plates from Istanbul. A big wooden cupboard in the kitchen contains all the plates and dishes - copper dishes, earthenware dishes, frying pans, ablution pitchers, small milk cans, and pots of all forms. The picturesque decorated niches, quite fashionable for that time, give the maid's room specific cosiness.
