The house was built in 1844 for welsh patients. The fact that patients were sent to the English asylums, where doctors did not speak a word of Welsh , which greatly hampered communication. Denbigh Mental Hospital could hold up to a thousand patients and about one thousand employees . The building is vacant since 2002 . In 2004,the Prince of Wales announced to grant the former hospital of the historical status.
