Built by Henry de Lacy. This 13th century hilltop stone keep and bailey fortress was built in two phases, replacing a royal Gwynedd residence. Other parts of structure to note are the mantlet and a postern gate and barbican, which has a detailed group of gates, passages and drawbridges.
