It was built in the USSR when a lot of new housing was needed for coming workers of a nearby plant which was being built. The plant is called ''завод РТИ" which means ''mechanical rubber goods works''. The abbreviation of this name still serves as a name for the borough. The first buildings here, including the industrial ones, were built in the 60`s of the 20th century. People used to work at nearby plants and coilieries. Now, that they`re all closed the place is slowly degrading, many of its inhabitants working in foreign countries and in the capital.
