Abhinava Dance Company, founded in 1994 by Nirupama Rajendra and Rajendra, is a dance company known for its dream like quality of dance presentations.
Their main feature is to bring in refreshing programs for the audiences through innovative interpretations of traditional dances. The company’s works are based on creative presentation of India’s two major classical dance styles from North (Kathak) and South (Bharathanatyam) India .
Over the years, the company has developed a style of its own, drawing stories mainly from the rich heritage of Indian Literature and Storytelling. Abhinava Dance Company, with it's neo-traditional approach, has managed to take these stories to a global audience, as evident from successful tours and workshops around the world.
ADC has evolved into a multifaceted Dance Company that engages in a wide range of activities.Beyond active performances, the Company offers regular training in traditional Indian Dance forms like Kathak, Bharathanatyam at the Abhinava School of Dance. Under the expert tutelage of Nirupama & Rajendra, budding talent is nurtured, their skills are carefully honed and learning dance is made into an enjoyable experience. For dance aficionados, regular dance workshops are also conducted at various educational & community centres in India and abroad.
