The name Varosha is with a proto-Bulgarian origin and it means Old town. “Varosha” was the quarter of the Christians in the city during the end of the XVI century. Here have worked and did business some of the best scholars, cultural makers from the region, participants in the revolutionary struggles of the Bulgarians. This is the oldest quarter of the city.
