The place, as near as I can reckon, where the killer of Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett, was himself murdered in Feb of 1908 while traveling from his home in the Organ Mountains into Las Cruces, NM.

A crude marker was placed at the spot by Garrett's youngest son, Jarvis.

Aside from being Billy the Kid's killer, Garrett's claims to fame were as Lincoln County Sheriff following the famed Lincoln County War, and as close friend of President Theodore Roosevelt.
