  • Kames? You mean James Island.
  • Why would you call the 54TH infamous ? Famous is more appropriate!!
  • Wow. Erroneous has a new definition. The battle of Sol Legare occurred on June 3, 1862 and was the precursor to the Battle of Secessionville (James Island) fought on June 16, 1862. Union troops occupied James Island from June 2 through July 7, 1862. The battles of Fort Wagner was fought July 11 and 18, 1863. Union Officer Gilmore landed troops on Morris Island (the same island on which Fort Wagner once stood) on July 10, 1863 and never occupied Sol Legare or James Islands.
