The Laurel Gardens section of Ross Township used to be farmland owned by the Heim family. It was subdivided starting in 1930 or earlier. Another chunk of Heim farmland later became the grounds of North Hills Senior High and Junior High. Streets and alleys of Laurel Gardens are named numerically, with few exceptions.
