Miu Miu (New York City, New York)

USA / New Jersey / West New York / New York City, New York / East 57th Street, 11
store / shop, clothes store / boutique, commercial building

6-story commercial building completed in 1930. It is clad in limestone, and has a 2-story base with four bays. Each contains a double-height round-arch at the base, with the entrance to the upper floors at the east bay, via glass double-doors. To the left there are two bays of show-windows flanking the entrance to the ground-floor retail space, which also has glass double-doors below a steel canopy.

The upper floors are divided into two halves, both with tripartite windows that are divided by stone pilasters. The sole ornament below the top floor consists of small carved panels of flowers in the spandrels aligned with the four pilasters. The 6th floor is underlined by a band course with a foliate pattern, and there are short projections at the upper halves of the piers at this floor, with lions' faces at their tops. A dentiled stone roof cornice tops the facade. The windows on the upper floors are backed by gold fabric with a subtle pattern of circles.

Miu Miu is a high fashion brand of women's clothing and accessories from the Prada fashion house. Miu Miu opened in 1993 and is headed by Miuccia Prada. The name of the collection is taken from her nickname.
