Brown Bear Mine claim is currently controlled by the 16 to One Mining operation.

The relics of the old steam plant rust away outside the Brown Bear Mine shaft. It is estimated that the Brown Bear produced $100,000 to $200,000 yearly from 1912 until it shutdown, (eight to sixteen million dollars a year on today’s market). The claim is located on a substantial tertiary gravel deposits said to have produced 73 pound gold nugget.

The Brown Bear Mine, consisting of 550 acres, is located in California’s Mother Lode north of Goodyears Bar, 1½ miles south of Eureka Mine Road, NF-25, on Forest Service Road, NF-27, along side Snow Creek. Goodyears Bar is on Hwy 49 in Sierra County west of Downieville California
