Estate home designed c. 1902 by Hasselman & Freeman for Foxhall Parker Keene who was an internationally-known polo player and horse breeder. The dish of chicken a la King was first named after Keene but the last name evolved to King over time.

The estate was subsequently purchased by William Grace Holloway, Sr. who renamed the estate "Foxland".
