The Alamodome is a multi-purpose covered stadium that is primarily used for football, basketball, and as a convention center in San Antonio, Texas. Designed by HOK Sport, it was constructed from November 1990 to May 1993 at a cost of $186 million. The Alamodome, with three tiers of seating, has a seating capacity of 65,000 with 6,000 club seats and 38 luxury boxes (it has enough space for 66 boxes). It also contains 30,000 sq ft (2,800 sq m) of meeting rooms and 160,000 sq ft (15,000 sq m) of continuous exhibit space.

The Alamodome was home to the NBA San Antonio Spurs from 1993 to 2002, and the CFL San Antonio Texans in 1995. It is currently the home of the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners football team as of 2011. The facility has also hosted special events such as the annual Alamo Bowl college football game, the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four in 1998, 2004, 2008, the NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four in 2002 and 2010, and the 1996 NBA All-Star Game.

Since 2010, the Alamodome has a theatre configuration which utilises the lower two tiers of its north stand and is named "The Illusions Theater".

  • Former Mayor Henry Cisneros got a special sales tax approved to build this money-losing beast. Then his political ambitions took him to DC thanks to Slick Willy. He got kicked out of DC for lying to the feds. Many San Antonio residents refer to it as the Henry Cisneros CON-dome.
  • If it had only been built with 10000 more seats, it would have hosted a few Super Bowls by now.
