The Downtown Medical Building

171-foot, 12-story International-style office building completed in 1955. Designed by Emery Roth & Sons, it is clad in light grey brick above a ground floor of silver metal, glass, marble and tile, which is recessed along Ann Street behind an arcade of rounded white columns. The northern part of the building rises six floors, while the southern section extends to a 9th-floor setback, with a further three floors at the eastern end. The north facade, extending through the block to Beekman Street, also has a small setback above the 9th floor. Both the shorter and taller sections have horizontal ribbon windows with metal frames. There is a open corner at the intersection of Ann and William Streets, where the window bands wrap around the corner.
