This was one of the important fort belonging to Shorapur Nayakas. It was built in 1800s by Krishnappa Nayaka. This fort is one of the northern forts of their territory. The fort consists of two courts; inner- court and outer-court. The outer court is rectangular and protects the inner fort's entrance. The inner-court is citadel with number of structures. There is small Hanuman temple inside the inner-court and a well. Originally the fort was built to station a samll army and also used as an out-post for Nayaka territory. The a deep moat (ditch) runs around the fort. Currently the bastions and rampart walls are intact. The fort exhibits strongholds of Deccan. Vanadurga village is about half a kilometer from the fort.
