Thunder Basin is a cirque on the northwest side of Mount Mansfield. There are no maintained trails in this area. In the mid-winter, there is good wilderness skiing in this area, providing you know the basin and where to go. Skiing here requires backcountry skills and is experts and people familiar with the backcountry in winter.
