Nemacolin Castle is one of a couple dozen large buildings of the 1850's still standing in western Pennsylvania, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Redstone Old Fort, accredited to the Mound Builders. It is also the site of Fort Burd, built by the British in 1759, under Colonel James Burd. In 1786 Jacob Bowman established a trading post at the old fort. This point on the Monongahela River was the western end of Chief Nemacolin's trail.
