During 19th century 4 obelisks where raised to mark the area where ships would dock to be loaded with salt. A flag would fly from the obelisk that was being worked. The obelisks are Blue, Red, White and Orange, the colors of the Dutch flag and the Royal Family. The Blue obelisk is now the site of the current Salt Pier used to load vessels today.
