Commercial Space Systems Division

Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems manufactures a wide range of satellite communications payloads. From commercial fixed-satellite service systems to secure, protected military communications for the U.S. Government, we leverage a half-century of experience in pioneering spacecraft engineering to enhance commercial, civil and defense communications.

Our Newtown, Pennsylvania headquarters includes co-located production and test facilities, staffed by specialists in systems engineering, communications payloads and all satellite bus subsystems technologies. The 420,000 square-foot facility features: 18 thermal vacuum chambers; five antenna ranges; an acoustic chamber; more than 75,000 square feet of clean space; comprehensive support functions; and 115,000-plus square feet of high bay with full integration and test capabilities.

Newtown also includes the A2100 Space Operations Center (ASOC). The primary mission of the ASOC is to guide A2100 satellites from launch to their final orbital destinations and then to support our customer operations of these spacecraft for their typical 15-year life. Through the ASOC, we can deliver a fully-tested spacecraft ready for revenue-producing communications service
