Anthimahakalan Kavu & the huge pond
Description THIS TEMPLE HAS A VERY LONG HISTORY, AND IS INTIMATELY ASSOCIATED WITH THE LOCAL FORLKLORE. (Please see also description under "Shoranur Junction" for a more detailed history of the place). It is said that for the stay of his Nair Army of Kavalappara Mooppil Nair, who was the feudal ruler of the area, the forest area in the name of "Anthimahakalan kotta" was used. It was for their use "Anthimahakalan temple" and a Anthimahakalan kulam (pond) of over 3 acres area was constructed. This pond is clearly visible from the sky and has an interesting shape.
