A very famous and very ancient temple well known for mural paintings. A memorable presentation of these place and temple is shown in Kerala's evergreen UNNINEELI SANDESAM.

The temple is on an island. It supposed to have been an isolated and secluded Buddhist shrine, dedicated to the saviour deity Tara, later transformed into a Hindu temple.

Connected characters of this temple are KADAMATTATHU Kathanar and YAKSHI.
