The original house with a cartwright's workshop is from the village Gachevtsi, Gabrovo region, and was built around 1880. It belonged to a cartwright. The master made carts on the 1st floor and lived with his family on the 2nd one. The dwelling consists of two rooms - a kitchen and a sleeping room and has a big verandah along the whole length of the house. Here a later stage in the dwelling furnishing from the beginning of the 19th c. is exhibited, when the first beds were already introduced and used in the villages and the floors were already covered with wooden boards.
Together with that another element of the way of life - weaving of mats from the leaves of the maize-is exhibited here. It was done in the autumn after the gathering of the maize crop. A primitive loom and all auxiliary materials are on show here.
