German Village was originally established in the 1800's by German immigrants and now consists of 233 acres of houses, shops and restaurants. The original German immigrants purchased the inexperncive land on the south side of Columbus and called it Das Alte Sudene (The Old South End). They built many breweries, a Lutheran seminary and Capital Univeristy in the area.
