Chat pile used as quarry

Since Picher, Treece and Cardin have been mostly evacuated and demolished, the Quapaw Indians (the ancestral owners of the whole area) have reverted to ownership of the town site. I understand they are trying to sell off as much chat as they can to various states to be used in low-quality concrete and road asphalt. Not sure if that's safe, but who can blame them for trying to make lemonade out of lemons?

Here you can see where they have been quarrying this chatpile to try and sell some of it off.
