Since Picher, Treece and Cardin have been mostly evacuated and demolished, the Quapaw Indians (the ancestral owners of the whole area) have reverted to ownership of the town site. I understand they are trying to sell off as much chat as they can to various states to be used in low-quality concrete and road asphalt. Not sure if that's safe, but who can blame them for trying to make lemonade out of lemons?
