Amenhetep III, 1386-1349 B.C.
Amenhetep III's reign was one of peace and prosperity. The economy flourished, especially the statue and construction industries. Amenhetep commissioned thousands upon thousands of statues of himself (including the famous Colossi of Memnon); modern historians estimate that he spend as much as a third of his entire reign posing. He also constructed the temple at Luxor and the elaborate thoroughfare connecting it to nearby Karnak. The one thing he did not think to build was a tomb, and he had to commandeer the unused one Thutmos IV had built in the Valley of the Kings' exurbs.
