This property was previously owned by Barrick Gold Corporation but in March 2010 decided to sell the property as it did not fit in with their global plans or operations. In April 2010, Platmin concluded a conditional agreement to acquire the 10% interest in the Sedibelo Platinum Project (Sedibelo) that was held by Barrick Gold Corporation. The Sedibelo property is located adjacent to Pilanesberg, between the latter and the Magazynskraal property on which a bankable feasibility study is currently under way. The company purchased the stake from Barrick Gold for $15 million, with the remaining 90 per cent continuing to be owned by the Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela Tribe.
