the winter base of the Moscow rowing club, Strelka or Arrow. Originally called the Moscow River Imperial Yacht Club, this rowing club was established in 1867. In the second half of the 19th century competitions were mostly between teams based in Moscow and Petersburg. After 1909 the team based here participated in international events including the 1912 Olympics. Although originally devoted exclusively to rowing just before the 1917 Revolution, the club management also was popularizing such sports as sailing, swimming, shooting, fencing, skiing and others.

During Soviet times the club's sponsor was the nearby Red October Chocolate factory. Unfortunately with the breakup of the Soviet Union, the club fell on hard times, equipment was not replaced and the last boats stored at this site were carted off not long ago. Now the small house has been restored and when Yoko Ono, wife of John Lennon visited Moscow in 2007 for an exhibition of her artwork, she stayed here.
