The Concordia Club, a private social organization founded by German Jews in 1874, opened its new quarters here in 1913. The club's roster over the years included such bigwigs as Pittsburgh Pirates owner Barney Dreyfuss and department store mogul Edgar J. Kaufmann. In 2009, the members sold the building to the University of Pittsburgh, which will use the space for academic and student activity programs.
