The Pyongyang University of Physical Education was founded in September 1958. It is responsible for training coaches, trainers and athletic program directors for schools, Youth League Halls and school children's palaces. There are several large lecture halls, a library, an indoor stadium and several training facilities in sports such as boxing, pistol shooting and volleyball. Alumna included numerous People's Athletes and Merited Athlete, as well as numerous participants at international sports competitions.
