Powertrain Operations Engine Engineering Building was built in 1925 and designed by Albert Kahn. Known as the Triple E (Engine and Electrical Engineering) Building, it was the principal center for the design of the Model A and subsequent Ford vehicles. On the plaza in front of the building, on May 26, 1927, Henry and Edsel Ford drove and posed with Ford's first car, the 1896 quadricycle, and the fifteenth million Model T. Carved into of the building are the names of Ford's friends, Thomas Edison, botanist Luther Burbank, naturalist John Burroughs, and other inventors and scientists whom Ford admired.
