Shopping center on the site of the old Hammond Square Mall, which opened in the early 1970s and anchored by Sears, JCPenney, and D.H. Holmes (later Dillard's). After losing JCPenney, it redecorated and renamed to The Village of Hammond Square, but it closed in 2007 and was later demolished for a new open-air configuration, anchored by Target, Sears, Dillard's, and JCPenney (returning to the mall). Rite Aid was also retained. Read more about the mall at Labelscar: the crazy décor and the unique three-level layout differentiated itself from others in that era.
