Highgate Underground Station is on the Northern line branch to Barnet. It is located in underground at deep level. As part of the Northern Heights Plan, another High Level station would be built near it serving reopened lines to Moorgate via Stroud Green and the North City Line and a branch to Alexandra Palace. These were never built, but the station had platforms numbered 3 and 4 until the 1990s. To the west, the line emerges into a cutting towards Finchley.
