11-story hotel originally completed in 1925. Designed by Jason E. Casale, it is clad in brown brick above a 2-story limestone base. In 1994, the hotel was sold and the new owners acquired the 10-story 1911 office building next door at 39 West 55th, converting it and joining the buildings to double the hotel's space in 1998. The addition is clad in grey brick above a 2-story limestone base this greyer in color than the stone on the base of the original hotel.
The main entrance is in the center of the ground floor of the original building, with a recessed glass door next to translucent glass panels. An angled, silver metal canopy covers the door, and more glass panels are located above, extending to small windows at the 2nd floor, all interlaced with aluminum framing. On either side of the door are a wide window and secondary entrance (the west side has a metal service door, and the east side another recessed glass door). At the ends of the 2nd floor are pairs of square windows.
Above a stone band course, the upper floors of the original building have two bays of double-windows in the middle, and a bay of paired windows at the ends. They all have stone sills and brick lintels. A vertical metal sign is mounted between the middle bays and the east end bays, running from the 4th-6th floors. The 10th floor is set off by a band course and has horizontal banding. Each of the four bays has three small round-arched windows openings, and another band course caps this floor. The top floor is recessed and not visible from the street.
The former office building to the left has glass storefront windows for a restaurant on the ground floor, with glass doors at the east end, and metal service doors at the west. The 2nd floor has four bays of square windows, and the base is capped by a band course. The upper floors have four bays of windows in vertical columns that are framed in black metal; translucent glass spandrel panels separate the floors within each bay. The top floor is also recessed on this facade.
The hotel has a total of 174 guest rooms and suites.
