Belnord Hotel (New York City, New York)

USA / New Jersey / West New York / New York City, New York / West 87th Street, 207-209

6-story Renaissance-revival hotel completed in 1920. It is clad in tan brick with white stone and terra-cotta trim above a rusticated limestone ground floor, and brown-painted, rough-faced stone basement. The facade is divided into two matching halves, each with a separate entrance. Both have short stoops with brown granite steps leading up to black wood-and-glass door and sidelights, below rounded, blue canvas canopies that descend down the stoops. The doorways are framed by pilasters with gold-painted panels of Renaissance ornament; they have gold capitals topped by a second tier of pilasters with narrower panels flanking carved ornament above the entries. Both entrances are flanked by window bays with round-arched filled by blue canvas clamshell canopies, with gold-painted keystones. Narrow areaways front the basement level, enclosed by iron fencing with gold-painted decorations. Thin rope moldings and egg-and-dart moldings line the upper parts of the base.

The upper floors have four bays of single-windows on both halves of the facade, round-arched at the 4th floor. There are projecting piers between the bays at the 2nd & 5th floor, and 2-story piers at the 3rd-4th floors. These double-height piers have stylized stone capitals at the 4th floor, with stone-edged brick voussoirs along the arches, each with a keystone. A white-painted stone band separates the 2nd & 3rd floors, decorated with foliate ornament, dentiled, and an egg-and-dart molding. The 3rd-floor windows have stone lintels above short egg-and-dart moldings, and there are stone spandrel panels between the 3rd & 4th floors with foliate ornament.

The 5th floor has a thinner band courses below it, adorned with foliate ornament, and above its windows' stone lintels are trios of chamfered brick brackets. The 6th floor is set off by a projecting white cornice with brackets and alternating panels and wreaths. The top floor has a pinker brick and short windows, and is capped by a simple stone cornice.

The west elevation is clad in red-painted brick. The hotel contains 119 guest rooms.
