memorial, clock tower, belfry
It rises majestically in the center of the town. One of the first monuments in honour of the National Liberation in Bulgaria, built in 1878. The advance detachment of General Gurko entered Byala Cherkva on 6 July (24 June old style) 1877. The Russian liberating troops were welcomed by the population and addressed with a moving speech by Irina Bacho-Kirova. She started with donations by the Russian officers a fund for the construction of the monument. The tower is 25 metres high. A clock bought with money donated by the teacher Yoakim Vasilev was fitted to it in 1929. The clock still works.
