Sankshi Fort

India / Maharashtra / Pen /

A small fort near Pen is worth visiting for its carved water cisterns. There are 20 water cisterns carved in the rock all over the mountain. But not all holds water. Few of them are huge and are supported by the carved pillars. One of the cistern walls has carving. The hike is easy and takes about 20 minutes from the Dargaah. One has to follow the water pipeline from Dargaah and then carved steps lead you to the top of the fort. The view from top is scenic. Forts like Manikgad, Karnala, Ratangad etc can be seen from top. Potable water is available.
