The FCDAS is a NESDIS/NOAA facility that contains antennas, electronic equipment, and support facilities that were designed to provide radio communications with satellites observing the earth. Due to its location at high latitude, the FCDAS is well-positioned to achieve line-of-sight with polar-orbiting satellites as they converge on the north polar region.

The former SATAN (Satellite Automatic Tracking Antenna Network) Command System transmitter building is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. FCDAS was originally built as a NASA Space Tracking and Data Acquisition Network (STADAN) site.

  • HIPAS
  • Formerly a NASA STADAN station. And an integral Project Blue Book deep space data gathering facility.
