The Schäfersee in Berlin-Reinickendorf is located in the middle of the city but is still surrounded by green spaces. The meadows in front of the lake are often used for ball games. The Schäfersee is an almost circular lake about 4.5 hectares in size and around 7 meters deep, located in Reinickendorf-East, just a few meters from the district border with Wedding. The lake got its name from a sheep farm that was located on its shore in the 18th century. Although the public swimming area that existed around the turn of the century is now gone, there is a boat rental on the eastern shore, inviting visitors to explore the lake. The lakeside park, created in the 1920s and allowing a full walk around the lake, features a large playground and a display of the "Trees of the Year."
