Originally built in 1931, this park was completely renovated in 1999 as part of the construction of Town Lake. The park connects to the 5 miles of paths for bicycling, jogging or in-line skating that circle Town Lake.

  • Until about 1972, there were signs in the parking areas that read "OVERNIGHT PARKING PERMITTED -- NO CAMPING". Then they were changed to read "NO OVERNIGHT PARKING" -- not, as is commonly believed, due to encroachment by hippies, but because retirees in huge RVs were ensconcing themselves in the lots for eighteen hours out of twenty-four, seven days a week from November through March. I lived here. I know.
  • I am currently working on organizing and event located at this park. It is a wonderful venue - large, yet intimate. I would encourage anyone who is looking for a great place to have an event large or small to consider this site!
