Free Public Beach

USA / Texas / Corpus Christi /
beach, fishing area, campsite / caravan site, birdwatching area, sunbathing

This beach apparently has no official name. Some refer to it as North Beach, Freedom Beach or Liberty Beach. It covers an area of approximately 4.7 miles of unspoiled beachfront located between the Corpus Christi beach maintenance zone to the north (marker 251) and the Padre Island National Seashore boundary to the south. There is no fee to use this beach and overnight camping is permitted up to three nights maximum. North entrance is just south of Padre Bali Park (Bob Hall Pier) at Park Road 22 and Sea Pines Avenue. The South entrance is just past the entrance sign at Padre Island National Seashore and before the ranger station. The "road" along the beach is considered a state highway and all laws apply including 15 mph speed limit and open container laws. Patrolled occasionally by National Park Service rangers in golf carts and the U.S. Coast Guard via helicopter. Since the beach is so remote, people like to go nude when the authorities aren't around. The nearest showers are at Padre Bali Park and Mustang Island State Park. Excellent birdwatching!
