  • Chartered in 1885 (same year as UofA) as Tempe Normal School (or teachers college). Became Arizona State University through popular mandate of the voters in 1958 referendum. Or does no one have anything intelligent to say about the place?
  • As opposed to AU, who was awarded the rights to a university and no one wanted to fund it. It took 2 gamblers to pny up the money to start the 'legendary school' down south. That and their red and blue colors come from a outlet store. Ditched their original colors for what was cheap. Woo Hoo.
