  • This is one the best temple that is present in Chennai.Everybody shd visit this temple at least once.
  • FROM THE INDIAN HISTORY - Thandam means the weapon used by Lord Yamah. When Yamah was about to kill Markkandeya, he put the rope to the neck of Maarkkandeya, as Maarkkandeya was holding Lord Shiva, it fall on shiva. Lord shiva got angry, so the Thandam fell on this place. Latter Lord Yamah did pooja and got back his Thandam. So this place is called Thandeeswarar. (named after Lord Shiva). This kulam-pond is the place where he got back thandam.
  • In mooasthanam Dhndeeswrar is blessing us as lingam facing east Direction, Ambal Karunambigai in left side of Lord facing South direction. Loard Ganesh is in right side and Subramanian(Murugan) with Valli and Deivanai on the left side of the loard. Outside of trhe Karuvarai, Loard Ganesh and Dhakshinamoorthy are ther facing South. There are murthy's of Lingothpavar, Chandrasekarar,Lakshmi, Sarasathi, Brahma, Durga, Chandigeswrar, Natarajar, Sivagami, Bairavar, Vishnu, Soorian in that circle. In the outer praharam, there are aruvtu moovar sanithi in south side, then in Western side kasi Visvanathar with mother Visalakshi, Vaiteeswrar, Chokanathar, Meenakshi sanadhi is there, In north-east there is Navagraham, in East side Nagar sanadhi. In Eastern side Entrance Kodimaram and Nandhi moorthi is there. It is a wonderful temple.
  • " Oh Shiva Shiva"!!!!! If you want to go to this temple through the theppakulam side you have to close your nose and eyes. on the sides of the wall people urinates frequently and the place is dumped with waste. Lord Shiva only have to save them.
