Chrysler Jefferson North Plant currently assembles the Jeep Grand Cherokee. It opened in 1993 on the site of the former Jefferson Avenue Assembly which was constructed in 1909. The plant was closed in 1991 and was noted for its art deco office building on the south side of Jefferson which housed a vehicle showroom at street level.
