When Lake Palestine was built in the 1960's, the Upper Neches River Authority, who was responsible for the creation of the lake, gave many area counties a plot of land that was selected to be flooded, but in the end only partially flooded. These plots of lands were given in hopes as that they would become parks. This was the land given to Henderson County, located in Coffee City, Texas. The park built here, operated by the county, thrived until the late 1970s, when drug activity became very apparent in the park. As of today, a few selective objects remain, such as speed limit signs, signs of the original road, the front gate, warning signs, and two boat ramps near the back of the park. A shed housing playground equipment was demolished in the early 2000s.
