Germany / Brandenburg / Frankfurt / Frankfurt am Main

Maurice Rose Army Airfield was built at Bonames for the US Army in 1951/52 in the meadows of River Nidda. Bonames is a suburb of Frankfurt / Main and is located in the north of the city. The airfield was used in support of headquarters of V Corps at Frankfurt and in 1982 housed 36 helicopter. • In 1968 the Corp of Engineers, 94th Engineering Battalion from Nellingen, Kasern, near Stuttgart, was given the task of adding the large hanger and apron to the existing field. During the constuction phase and batching plant full of dry concrete fell over spreading the area with a fine dust of portland. Also during the construction our mobile ten ton crane had problems making turns in town causing damage to a few homes.
